I run a consultancy focused on strategy and partnerships in the vast ecosystem of automated driving. I work with tech developers, vehicle-makers, regulators, and others who grapple with key issues for deployment. I have had the privilege of working with countless engineers and scientists who really know their stuff; their perspective helps me keep my eyes on the big picture and my feet on the ground. Before the DARPA Challenges or Google’s entry, during the 1990’s I led USDOT’s research program in Vehicle-Highway Automation, which culminated in Demo ‘97 demonstrating fully automated driving on I-15 in San Diego. I’m a longtime advocate for deployment of automated mobility across heavy trucks, robo-taxi’s, and personal cars to bring our society to a new level. In providing talks and workshops to key decision-makers, I learn as much as I impart. I’m excited to discuss challenges and solutions with them and continue the conversation here.
