George Wells is the Founder and CEO of Wells Group of New York, a finance and accounting consulting firm he established 16 years ago. Prior to founding Wells Group, George began his career at 19 as an intern at Salomon Brothers, spending a decade on Wall Street at Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs before launching the firm in 2009. Today, Wells Group serves over 70 companies globally across SaaS, media, healthcare, fintech, and consumer goods, providing interim CFO, Controller, and strategic finance services through a team of 40 professionals worldwide. Through the firm, George has served as Interim CFO of Barstool Sports, Fevo, Quip, Zola, and Lehmann Maupin, among others. Over the past five years, Wells Group has advised on more than $1 billion in financings and M&A transactions, cementing its reputation as a trusted partner to high-growth and transitioning businesses around the world. George is also a significant collector and philanthropist at the intersection of contemporary art and civic life. In 2020, he made a landmark gift of a $1M+ collection to Morehouse College, his alma mater, featuring works by some of the most significant Black and queer artists working today. His leadership in the arts spans some of the most respected institutions in the country. He serves as Treasurer of the Parrish Art Museum, Co-Chair of the Tate Americas Foundation's North American Acquisitions Committee, Co-Chair of the Whitney Museum's 2024 Biennial, and holds a seat on the Whitney's Painting & Sculpture Acquisitions Committee. He is also a Board Member of the Black Trustee Alliance for Art Museums. Beyond the arts, George serves as Treasurer of the Anti-Recidivism Coalition, Audit Chair of Project EATS; the urban farming nonprofit founded by artist Linda Goode Bryant that transforms vacant lots and rooftops into neighborhood-based farms cultivating food sovereignty across New York City; and is a member of Out in Tech. George holds a BA in Finance & Accounting from Morehouse College and an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business.
