We are the authors of UCLA’s bi-annual Hollywood Diversity Report, which has documented since 2014 the relationship between diversity and the bottom line in theatrical films and television. Dr. Ana-Christina Ramón is director of the Entertainment and Media Research Initiative for UCLA’s Institute of Research on Labor and Employment. Dr. Ramón is a social psychologist who has worked on social justice issues related to equity and access in higher education and the entertainment industry for more than two decades. Dr. Darnell Hunt is executive vice chancellor and provost at UCLA and professor of sociology and African American Studies. For more than two decades, Dr. Hunt has worked on numerous research projects exploring the issue of Hollywood diversity, including work with the Writers Guild of America West, the Screen Actors Guild, and the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. Our research on Hollywood diversity has been covered by hundreds of media outlets in the United States and around the globe.
