The future of associations will be determined not by the strength of their ideas, but by their ability to translate collective insight into disciplined action. Too often, strategic plans stall. Education programs inform but don’t transform. Meetings generate conversation without producing commitment. My work centers on redesigning how associations think, decide, and learn together. As Founder and President of Event Garde, I partner with boards, executive staff teams, and volunteer leaders to architect participatory strategic planning processes and high-impact learning environments that generate clarity, alignment, and measurable follow-through. I view facilitation not as a soft skill, but as a strategic lever—one that strengthens governance, accelerates implementation, and turns complexity into coordinated progress. For more than two decades, I have worked at the intersection of strategy, leadership, and learning in the association and nonprofit sector. Since launching Event Garde in 2011, we have partnered with more than 150 organizations nationwide, supporting approximately 10,000 participants annually through intentionally designed planning engagements and education initiatives. I am a Certified Technology of Participation (ToP) Facilitator and Mentor Trainer, Certified Association Executive (CAE), Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) Fellow, and American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) Fellow.
