As a strategic CEO and Independent Board Director, I guide organizations to unlock growth, strengthen performance and expand impact. Through a Servant-Leadership approach, I provide innovative business strategies to organizations that help build resilience in times of change, and navigate unchartered territory with clarity and discipline. Serving as President & CEO and Board Member of Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan (LSS), I lead this health and human services organization with 800 mission-driven employees to provide life changing services for over 30,000 underserved individuals annually. Leading all organizational areas, I led the launch of new services, program expansions, and partnerships that have transformed outcomes and reduced costs. Placing culture and service at the center, LSS has achieved national recognition as a workplace of choice and outstanding client satisfaction. I serve as Independent Board Director at Nicolet Bankshares Inc. (NYSE: INC), a large regional bank with $9B+in assets; M3 Insurance, and Ascension Wisconsin – bringing over 20 years of leadership in turnarounds, operational transformations, and growth strategy in highly regulated industries. An active member of Audit, Governance, Asset Liability, and Loans Committees, I guide boards on governance, financial oversight, succession, and risk, helping companies to navigate critical inflection points with a steady hand and a commitment to safeguarding integrity, compliance, and shareholder value. No stranger to turnarounds, my first personal/professional success began in boxing as a member and champion of the National USA Boxing team. I won 7 national titles and competed in the 1992 Olympic Trials. At the height of my boxing career, I stepped away from success to serve God. Today I am an Independent Board Director of USA Boxing Inc., inspiring athletes to discover their own path while transforming the organizations that serve them. Throughout my life and career, I’ve embraced both public service and private sector opportunities, with a deep focus on community impact and governance. Experiences included serving in Milwaukee’s Department of Health & Human Services, and in Governor James Doyle’s Administration as Commissioner of Regulation/Licensing, and Workforce and Economic Development. Taking a retrospective look, from humble beginnings, turned champion boxer, to board director and keynote speaker, I share the virtues learned in all those experiences in my book, “My Journey From Boxing Ring to Boardroom: Five Essential Virtues For Life and Leadership.”
