Beau Dure is a sports journalist and the author of several books on soccer, including Why the U.S. Men Will Never Win the World Cup: A Historical and Cultural Reality Check and Long-Range Goals: The Success Story of Major League Soccer. He covered four Olympics during his tenure at USA Today, and he has written for The Guardian, Soccer America, ESPN and NBC. He grew up in Athens, Ga., then graduated from Duke with a bachelor’s degree in music and philosophy and a master’s degree in liberal studies. In his spare time, he plays in multiple bands in Northern Virginia and the D.C. metro area.
