Dr. Joseph Antoun is a physician, scientist, investor, and a pioneering global leader in longevity science. As CEO and Chairman of L-Nutra, the world’s leading nutrition technology company focused on aging and age-related disease, he is driven by one core principle: that we are created to help one another live happy, healthy, long lives. Before longevity became a global investment category, Dr. Antoun was building its foundation. In 2011, he launched the first longevity-focused investment fund, helping catalyze what is now a multibillion-dollar global market. Over the past decade, he has helped raise more than $150 million for longevity-focused companies, spearheading the expansion of nutrition technology across the globe, most recently through a Series D raise with Mubadala to bring L-Nutra’s expertise into the Middle East / North Africa region. For more than 20 years, he has played a defining role in shaping aging into both a scientific discipline and an economic sector. Under Antoun’s leadership, L-Nutra, makers of Prolon and L-Nutra Health, has trailblazed the “food as medicine” movement, generating over a quarter billion dollars in sales and licensing 221 patents from 18 university medical centers - including the first patent in history on promoting human longevity. In 2016, he launched the first clinically validated fasting-mimicking nutrition program to market, rebranding fasting as a science-backed longevity intervention. Clinical research on the company’s technology - totalling 48 clinical trials to date - has demonstrated consistent and statistically significant improvements in metabolic health, visceral fat reduction, and insulin resistance. A 2025 study of the FMD technology published in Nature suggests a potential biological age reversal by upwards of 11 years - a major indicator of the protocol in supporting age-related disease remission. Dr. Antoun also supported the first human clinical trial demonstrating nutrition-induced activation of autophagy, translating Nobel Prize–winning cellular research into practical, scalable human application. His leadership continues to bridge rigorous science, intellectual property strategy, capital formation, and public health reform. A pioneering milestone under Dr. Antoun’s guidance was the development of L-Nutra’s Nutrition for Longevity program, one of the first food-based interventions to receive insurance reimbursement and recognition by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). This breakthrough signaled a paradigm shift: positioning food as medicine within mainstream healthcare infrastructure. Beyond his corporate leadership, Dr. Antoun is Co-Director of the Center for Health Policy at the University of Chicago, former Chairman of the Global Healthspan Policy Institute, and an active advocate for progressive health policies that prioritize longevity and preventive, food-based care. He is affiliated with leading academic and executive networks, including Harvard University, Johns Hopkins University, King’s College London, the University of Chicago (Professor of Health Policy), and YPO. Dr. Antoun often says, “I dedicated the first part of my life to becoming a health and longevity expert and building the first-to-market longevity company. I am dedicating the second part to bringing longevity to mass adoption among consumers, patients, and policymakers.” At a time when aging populations are reshaping global healthcare economics, Dr. Antoun is transforming longevity from aspiration into infrastructure.
