John Samuels is the Founder and CEO of Wellworth, a premier NYC-based national healthcare advisory firm. Since 2016, Wellworth has helped clients navigate the complex healthcare system with services such as top doctor referrals, second opinions, health insurance reviews, appointment accompaniment, disease research, 24/7 decision support, and emergency care plans. Under John’s leadership, Wellworth has doubled its revenue annually for the past three years, earning a reputation as a trusted resource nationally and internationally. John is also a frequent speaker at national family office and wealth advisory events and conferences. He is a columnist for Forbes and Crain Currency. In addition, he strategically advises several healthcare start-ups and growing firms. He also mentors a surgeon’s medical practice and strategically advises healthcare companies, focusing on growth, marketing, and operations, including partnerships, pricing, and positioning strategies.With over two decades of senior healthcare leadership, John has a proven track record of operational excellence and strategic innovation. Before founding Wellworth, he was Assistant Vice President of the Emergency Medicine Service Line at North Shore LIJ, overseeing 16 emergency departments and a network of urgent care centers, impacting nearly 700,000 lives annually. He implemented LEAN and Six Sigma programs, improving timeliness of care by 31% and patient satisfaction by 5%. John also developed a leadership program for 25 high-potential emergency medicine clinicians. Before his tenure at North Shore LIJ, John was the Administrative Director for the Department of Emergency Medicine at Mount Sinai Beth Israel. He was responsible for the leadership and operations of a Level II tertiary facility with over 160,000 annual patient visits. John optimized the department’s financial performance, increased patient volume, and enhanced patient satisfaction scores through innovative strategic planning and quality improvement initiatives. His experience also includes managing a state-designated AIDS Center and chemical dependency divisions, where he significantly improved patient care and operational efficiency. John’s expertise extends to emergency management and disaster response, leading critical initiatives during Hurricane Sandy and other major events. He has been recognized for his community service, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, and was honored on the Forbes Next 1000 list in 2021. John serves as a trustee for the Phillips School of Nursing at Mount Sinai and the Sepsis Alliance and chairs the Board of Directors at the 360 Academic Sports Academy. John holds a Master of Public Health in Health Policy and Management from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Alfred University.
