I am the executive director of the Collaborative for Student Success, a non-profit organization that defends high standards, high-quality assessments and strong systems of accountability, to ensure all kids are prepared for college or career. I build coalitions that include teachers, military families, parent groups, faith leaders, and state and local education leaders to address school performance issues. I have more than 20 years of experience in outreach and social marketing, focusing on issues including security, defense, military families, and education. I served 10 years as an officer in the U.S. Navy where my assignments included deputy public affairs officer for the Chief of Naval Operations and congressional director for the Secretary of the Navy. I am a graduate of Marquette University and have a master’s degree in public policy from Georgetown University. I live in Virginia with my wife and two daughters.
