A trained biologist with a PhD in resilience science, Dr. Alex Gold can pinpoint exactly how organizations rely on social and natural resources to create value. Fueled by a passion for understanding how things work, Dr. Alex Gold spent years sequencing DNA, peering into microscopes, and evaluating complex ecosystems. But he had a desire—like many other scientists—to explore how things are done outside the lab. His PhD track presented an opportunity to dive deep into the philosophy of how knowledge is generated and used, particularly the concept of integrating environmental and social change into business strategies. He has since worked within corporations and as an advisor to companies as they seek to transform their operations with sustainability at the core. Alex leads BWD Strategic’s North America operations, partnering with organizations large and small to transform their sustainability approach. He is an expert in creating corporate sustainability strategies, performing scenario analyses, and helping companies meet stakeholder and regulator expectations on sustainability reporting. Born and raised in the USA, Alex spent over a decade as a professional in Australia and is a dual citizen of both countries. He is based in Brooklyn, NY.
