Joern Hackbarth has served as CTO for Ampyr Solar Europe, an Independent Solar Power Producer (IPP) with a proven track record in delivering high performance, cost competitive solar photovoltaic plants to the market. His team is responsible for supporting the acquisition phase of both existing and new-build plants, overseeing the design and construction of greenfield assets, and optimising completed plants before handing them over to Asset Management. Joern has spent his career working around the world, from Europe to the Middle East and Asia and from Africa to North America. He currently resides in Miami. Prior to Ampyr Solar Europe, he was a Head of Execution & Operation at Private Energy Partners s, EVP at Sonnedix responsible for the delivery of projects in 8 countries and Vice President at Scatec Solar Solution, leading the engineering and company competence centre regarding PV design. Before this, he was the Director, Power Plant Construction at Phoenix Solar, with total oversight of the business unit. Since joining Sonnedix's senior leadership team, Joern has been actively involved in helping to grow the company through connecting on-time, on-budget plants, like Oriana, the largest PV plant in the Caribbean, and a number of plants in Japan. He’s also played a key role in expanding the engineering team. Joern holds a MSc in Project Management from the University of Aberdeen in the UK, as well as a University of Applied Science degree in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in Information Technology from Lübeck Technical University in Germany and a BSc in Electrical Engineering from the Milwaukee School of Engineering in the US.
