Nina is a passionate educator and entrepreneur. She is the Founder and CEO of Happy Plum, a ed tech platform at the intersection of Gen-AI and education. With over 5+ years of experience teaching children of all age groups and levels, Nina excels in making the learning experience holistic and personalized. Her company is based out of the Harvard Innovation Lab in Boston, MA, and she is an incoming graduate student at Harvard University, where she will focus her research at the intersection of education and Generative AI. Born in China and adopted as a toddler, Nina's journey is one of resilience and determination. Raised in the small towns of Maine, she began learning Mandarin at 15 through the National Security Language Initiative for Youth, driven by the hope of one day reconnecting with her biological family—a dream she realized in 2018. Her passion for bridging cultures led her to earn the State Department’s Critical Language Scholarship, taking her to Suzhou, China, and ultimately graduating from Wheaton College with a BA in International Relations, specializing in Asia. Nina's love for teaching was sparked by a deep empathy for students struggling with traditional learning methods. She creating an innovative and engaging approach to Mandarin instruction that resonated with learners of all ages. With a diverse teaching background—from substitute teaching to private coaching and tutoring—Nina has made learning not just accessible but enjoyable. Beyond the classroom, Nina is a passionate entrepreneur who believes bilingualism is a key to unlocking opportunities in the global business arena. Her journey, from a small-town upbringing to becoming a bridge between cultures, inspires others to pursue their dreams with creativity, compassion, and courage.
