I’ve been working as an independent journalist in Japan for several decades and write for a number of publications. I string for the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Spectrum magazine, covering sci-tech news and events in Japan and elsewhere. I also contribute feature stories to Al Jazeera’s English-language online news service on a variety of subjects concerning Japan—ranging from whaling to nuclear energy issues and business developments. And I’ve just completed my first novel, a suspense thriller called Killing Time in Tokyo, which will be available soon as a Kindle book on Amazon. When I’m not writing, I enjoy hiking, reading, wining & dining, collecting netsuke and playing chess and Risk. I’m a long-time member of the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Japan in Tokyo and I sit on the Board of Saint Maur International School in Yokohama.
