After starting his career as a dishwasher in 1988 at the legendary Second City theatre in Chicago, Kelly Leonard became the youngest producer in the history of Second City in 1992. Kelly led the creative work at Second City from 1992 until 2016, where he hired and developed shows with such talent as Stephen Colbert, Tina Fey, Steve Carell, Seth Meyers, Amy Poehler, Keegan-Michael Key, Jason Sudeikis, Rachel Dratch, Amy Sedaris, Aidy Bryant, Tim Robinson and more. In 2015, Kelly's book "Yes, And: Lessons from The Second City" (co-authored with Tom Yorton) was released to acclaim by HarperCollins. The book, which focuses on how improvisation is a powerful tool to improv performance at work, led to Kelly shifting his focus to studying and promoting improvisation as a skill for life. He currently hosts the "Getting to Yes, And" podcast for Second City and WGN Radio and is a much sought after speaker, presenting at Aspen Ideas Festival, TEDx Broadway, Chicago Ideas Festival, Microsoft, Coca-Cola, Stanford Graduate School of Business, The Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago and the FBI National Academy.
