James Barlow, CEO, BZI James Barlow is the CEO of BZI, a national leader in construction recognized for its transformative technologies in steel erection, steel fabrication and wall systems. BZI’s mission is to revolutionize the construction industry through innovation, team performance, and accelerated project delivery while setting new standards in safety and efficiency. James brings over 20 years of experience in the construction industry to BZI. Under his leadership, the company has erected more than 140 million square feet of steel, has grown from 100 employees in 2016 to more than 800 in 2024, and increased annual revenues to over $350 million. Additionally, James has overseen the establishment of Innovatech, a multimillion dollar research and development company; launched the 21-acre BZI Steel Fabrication facility; helped create BZI’s certification and training group SteelTech Academy; and broke ground on the new 820-acre sustainable BZI Innovation Park. In addition to being named to the Forbes Leadership Council, James is a recipient of the prestigious Malcolm Baldrige Leadership Award. As an entity, BZI has been recognized for its innovation in construction technology by Fast Company, Inc 5000, and the Edison Awards, to name a few, and was named the #1 Top Workplace in Utah for 2023 by the Salt Lake Tribune.
