Gary Ivory is the president and CEO of Youth Advocate Programs, Inc., a national nonprofit that reduces youth incarceration through community and home-based alternatives. Ivory started his career at YAP in 1992 after graduating from the Princeton Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity. Throughout the past three decades, he’s formed over 100 partnerships between YAP and various jurisdictions across the United States, growing the nonprofit to operate in 35 states and Washington, D.C., as well as abroad in Sierra Leone and Australia. Ivory believes that when we create a better future for young people, everyone will benefit. When he’s not working, Ivory enjoys writing poetry, listening to music and traveling with his family. He’s currently writing a book about what he’s learned in his three decades of working with young people.
