Adia Harvey Wingfield is the Mary Tileston Hemenway Professor of Arts and Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis. She covers careers, employment relations and organizational behavior. She is an award-winning author, with her most recent book Gray Areas: How the Way We Work Perpetuates Racism and What We Can Do to Fix It named one of Publisher’s Weekly’s best books of 2023. She is also a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, a fellow of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research, and the 116th president of the American Sociological Association. From 2015 to 2017, she was a contributing writer for The Atlantic. She has also written for Slate, Vox and Harvard Business Review.
