Scott L. Montgomery is a geoscientist, author, and affiliate faculty in the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies and Department of Earth & Spaces, University of Washington. He spent 25 years in the energy industry as an explorationist, and since 2005 has written and taught on topics related to energy and climate change. He has written over 200 scientific papers and monographs, as well as 14 books, including Powers that Be: Global Energy for the 21st Century and Beyond, Seeing the Light: The Case for Nuclear Power, and, with co-author Dan Chirot, Shape of the New, a New York Times Best 100 Books selection.
