Sofia Perez has been a journalist and writer for more than 35 years, with extensive expertise covering dining and food—from farm, ocean, and river, all the way to the table. She has navigated the world food first, whether that’s visiting new restaurants and markets when she travels; experimenting in the kitchen; investigating the roots of a particular dish; getting to know the chefs, farmers, winemakers, and others behind the products we consume; and assessing their environmental impact. Perez began her career in broadcast news, at the NBC Nightly News and the Today show, before segueing into print. Her writing has been published by the BBC, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Condé Nast Traveler, and Saveur, where she was deputy editor. In 2023, Perez was named a finalist for the American Society of Journalists and Authors writing awards. She is happiest when she is close to a kitchen.
