Yvonne Lau is a journalist reporting on the intersection of business, society, and politics with a focus on China and Russia. She has written features and profiles on the world’s biggest companies and founders and covered China’s tech crackdown and Russia’s economic fallout as a former staff writer for Fortune. Yvonne is working on a series of long-form features for Maclean’s, The Walrus, Broadview, among other publications, on the Hong Kong, Chinese, and Uyghur diasporas worldwide.Lau is part of the 2023 cohort of Room Up Front, a mentorship program for BIPOC photojournalists. She is an ambassador for Women LEAD Nepal and a former committee chair at the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong. She speaks English, Cantonese, Mandarin, and Russian.
