I’m a freelance writer based in California who covers the music industry. My main focus is K-pop, but I cut my teeth as an arts journalist on the indie rock beat. I have shined a light on hidden aspects of K-pop by reporting on the ways that Korean music shows shaped the art form. My reporting also explores fan culture, like how fan translators make the most granular aspects of K-pop accessible to foreign fans. I’ve written profiles spotlighting artists such as Father John Misty, BewhY and Joji. My words can be found in publications like Billboard, PopCrush and Soompi. I earned a bachelor’s degree from UC Berkeley and a master’s degree from the Columbia Journalism School.
